Optimize Powerline for VDSL - Setup via the Home Network App

In a few cases, using powerline adapters in conjunction with a VDSL connection of profiles 17a and 35b can lead to an unstable internet connection due to interference between the telephone and power lines. The following steps can help you improve the stability of your internet connection using the Home Network App.

With the current version of the Home Network App, you can optimize your Magic 1 WiFi and Magic 2 WiFi adapters for your VDSL internet connection or your (Super) Vectoring connection. You can also optimize the dLAN 1200+ WiFi ac via the Home Network App after migrating to delos 5.2.1.

Do you have a different adapter or would you prefer to make the optimization using a desktop device? You can find the instructions for the devolo Cockpit software here.

Setup via the Home Network App

1. Download the Home Network App

Download the Home Network app to your smartphone or tablet.

2. Open the Home Network App

Open the Home Network App. Your Magic Adapters will be automatically detected by the app. Your dLAN 1200+ WiFi ac will also be automatically recognized, provided you have already migrated it to delos 5.2.1.

3. Update the adapter

Make sure to keep the firmware of your adapters up to date. You can find new firmware in the **Home Network App**. Tap on the desired adapter in the network overview. In the device dashboard, select "Check for firmware updates." If an update is found, tap "Update" in the dialog box.

4. Set up the VDSL profile

Tap on any Magic LAN adapter in the network overview. A new window will open.

In the device dashboard, you can open the device's web interface (among various other functions).

Then expand the 'burger' menu at the top right and select 'Powerline'.

Enable 'Automatic Compatibility Mode' and select the VDSL profile requested by your provider.

Done! Your adapter is now optimized for VDSL.

Please repeat the above steps for each adapter individually again.

Troubleshooting

Your view offers no options?

Check if the firmware of your adapters is up to date.

Is your DSL connection still unstable?

If you are still experiencing connection issues despite setting the profile to 17a or 35b, you should switch the devices to SISO mode. However, please note that this may reduce the data throughput.

  • Select the "Powerline" menu of your adapter as described in Step 4.
  • Under the "Compatibility Mode" menu, select the SISO operating mode.
