Setting up devolo Magic (without the Home Network App)

Make a note of the WiFi key on the back of the devolo Magic WiFi adapter.

Plug one or more devolo Magic WiFi adapters into a free wall socket. The PLC indicator light (left) will light up red. Wait until the LED flashes white rapidly (approx. 1 minute), then the Powerline adapter is in pairing mode.

Plug the devolo Magic LAN adapter into a free wall socket next to your Internet router within 2 minutes and connect it to the router using the LAN cable provided.

The LEDs on all Magic adapters will now flash white while the encryption process is taking place. This takes a maximum of 3 minutes and is complete as soon as all LEDs on the devices are permanently lit white.

Once the Magic WiFi adapters have successfully connected, the basic installation is complete. Using the WiFi key noted at the beginning, you can now connect your end devices to the powerline adapters via WiFi and enjoy fast WiFi.

Your devolo adapter is blinking red – what to do?

Then it is in its delivery state and has not yet been connected to another Magic adapter.

This indicates a low data rate. This can be the case, for example, if you operate your adapters in power strips with other consumers, which you should avoid.

Then the connection to the other adapters was interrupted. This can happen, for example, if the other adapters are in standby mode or there is a fault in the power line.

Optional Tips

Closing Remaining WiFi Gaps

Have you noticed that there are still rooms where the WiFi is too weak after successfully installing devolo Magic? You can also expand your Powerline network retroactively – easily and flexibly. Use our practical extension adapters for this purpose.

Set up devolo Mesh

Plug your Magic WiFi adapter into a free wall socket that is no more than 10 metres away from the router. Wait approx. 1 minute until the PLC indicator light (left) lights up white.

Press the PLC button (on the left) on your devolo adapter so that the LED flashes white. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router (the length of time you need to press the button depends on the router model).

When the LED on the Magic WiFi adapter lights up white again, the router's WiFi access data has been transferred to the adapter. You can now unplug it and place it in the desired location.

Setting up the devolo Repeater (without the Home Network App)

via the Add button (WPS)

Plug the WiFi repeater into a power socket near your router. Once the WiFi LED turns green, the device is ready for use. This status is reached up to 2 minutes after plugging in.

Press the Add button on your WiFi repeater for approximately 1 to 3 seconds. Now press the WPS button on your WiFi router within 2 minutes or, alternatively, activate the WPS function on the device's configuration interface/app.

If both the dot and the arcs of the Wi-Fi symbol on the device light up green, it has been successfully configured as a repeater. If necessary, you can now unplug it again and place it in another location in your living space.

via Web Interface

Current devolo Repeaters set up a temporary WiFi network (without internet connection) – this may be named "devolo WiFi 6 Repeater 5400". Connect your device to this network. No password is required for this. Open your web browser and enter the address "http://2.2.2.1". Here you can choose whether to use the device as a WiFi Repeater or as an Access Point.

Click on ‘Set up as repeater’. Select your home network name from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and enter your password. You can now configure your Wi-Fi settings. We recommend using the default configuration.

Connect the devolo repeater to a free LAN port on your router using an Ethernet cable and click on ‘Set up as access point’ in the web interface. To ensure that the device has the same Wi-Fi configuration as your Wi-Fi router, you can use the WiFi Clone function to transfer its access data. This can be done either via the web interface or by pressing the Add button on the repeater for 3 to 9 seconds and then pressing the WPS button on the router.

Extend Repeater Network

Did you know? If needed, a WiFi repeater network can also be easily expanded. Our WiFi 6 Repeater 3000 and 5400 come with a whole range of clever mesh features. This is especially practical if you already have a LAN wiring in your house and operate our repeaters in Access Point mode . Soon, even the most stubborn WiFi dead zones will be a thing of the past.
