The devolo single adapters from the Magic or dLAN series are used in any areas within your home where you still aren't able to get optimal Internet reception. For example, this might include rooms or storeys that are being re-purposed. It could also be the case that you just finished moving into a new home and now you've got more square metres at your disposal.

Fragen und Antworten zur Erweiterung von devolo Magic

How can I change the password for my home network?

You can do that either using the app or via cockpit.

Where is the best place to put a Powerline adapter?

Ideally it should be plugged into a single socket. If the adapter is plugged into a multiple socket, then it should be the only device plugged in there if possible. You can easily use the power socket on the adapter to connect additional devices or a power strip.

Do devolo Magic adapters work with all routers and network devices?

devolo Magic adapters are compatible with all routers, network devices, devolo Magic adapters and products certified by HomeGrid Forum. dLAN® Powerline adapters and other HomePlug AV products, including the devolo Outdoor WiFi Powerline adapter, are not supported.

Is there a difference between "expansion adapter" and "single"?

No. These are merely two different terms for a single adapter for expanding the network which is sold separately.

How many adapters can be connected together in one home network?

You can easily combine as many as eight adapters together.

What software can I use to configure and manage my Magic adapters?

You can use either the devolo Home Network app (smartphone) or the devolo Cockpit software (desktop) to manage your Magic adapters.

Do Magic devices also support older dLAN devices?

dLAN devices are not supported by the new generation of technology, which is why Magic and dLAN are not compatible with each other.

Are supplementary Magic adapters also installed automatically?

No. You have to add the new device using one of the previously installed devices and by pressing a button. To do this, start by selecting an adapter from your existing network. Then press the encryption button of the new adapter.

Can Wi-Fi be used simultaneously with the integrated LAN port?

Yes, you can definitely use the Wi-Fi signal and the LAN port at the same time.

Fragen und Antworten zur Erweiterung von dLAN Adaptern

Are dLAN adapters in different speed classes (200, 500, 550, 650, 1000, 1200) compatible?

Yes, devolo dLAN products of different speed classes are fully compatible with each other.
The only exception is old devices with a speed of 14 and 85 Mbps. Unfortunately, these are not compatible with current products.
For technical reasons, devices from the devolo Magic series are not compatible with dLAN devices.

In a network with mixed speed classes, every adapter connects to every other adapter at the highest possible speed (independently of the other adapters in the network). Let's say you have a network consisting of one 500 Mbps adapter and two 1200 Mbps adapters. The 500 Mbps adapter connects to the 1200 Mbps adapters at a speed of 500 Mbps. At the same time, the 1200 Mbps adapters connect to each other at the full 1200 Mbps speed.

Which Wi-Fi-capable devices can I connect to dLAN WiFi adapters?

You can connect any current mobile device with a Wi-Fi module to dLAN WiFi adapters – giving you a fast wireless connection to the Internet and your home network. This includes smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone, tablet PCs such as the Apple iPad and notebooks. You can also network appropriately equipped consumer electronics in no time – such as a Smart TV or Internet radio.

Do dLAN devices also support Magic devices?

dLAN devices are not supported by the new generation of technology, which is why Magic and dLAN are not compatible with each other.
