The new Powerline flagship product of the network experts from Aachen, Germany, enables Wi-Fi transmission speeds of up to 3000 Mbps. The G.hn Powerline technology of the new Magic adapter conducts the Internet signal through walls and ceilings, and provides the entire home with stable, long-range and fast Wi-Fi by using mesh technology.

Smooth video conferences, high-speed online gaming, interruption-free streaming entertainment – the demands on bandwidth in our home networks are constantly growing. A lot of data has to be moved, particularly when multiple data-hungry applications are running at the same time. devolo is responding to this trend and offering even more Wi-Fi speed with the Magic 2 WiFi 6 next Powerline adapter. This handy adapter enables client devices to be connected wirelessly at speeds of up to 3000 Mbps. That is a significant increase compared to the maximum Wi-Fi transmission rate of the predecessor model, which, at 1800 Mbps, already offers rapid data transmission. The Magic 2 WiFi 6 next is the next logical step in development for advanced users whose Wi-Fi Powerline home network can't be fast enough. And the devolo convenience to which they're accustomed remains unchanged: The new device works seamlessly with other adapters from the Magic product series and can be conveniently managed through the devolo Home Network app.


State-of-the-art Wi-Fi power

Another thing that remains unchanged is the strong Wi-Fi technology with mesh convenience and support for the current Wi-Fi 6 standard. This employs intelligent technologies to optimise the data stream automatically so that everything runs more smoothly in everyday life. Video calls remain stable, there are no dropouts during online gaming and you can enjoy a film night with 4K or 8K quality. Best of all, you don't need any special technical knowledge to install and use the device – the function is fully automatic and even saves energy. With a specially optimised Target Wake Time (TWT), the new Magic Wi-Fi 6 adapter puts end devices "to sleep" if they do not need a continuous wireless connection at the moment. The devolo PowerSave technology also saves energy: If the Powerline connection is not needed, Magic adapters automatically switch to an energy saving mode. That is kind to the wallet and the environment.


Mesh Wi-Fi for more online enjoyment

A mesh system refers to a wireless LAN network that consists of multiple Wi-Fi hotspots that automatically communicate with each other and form a tightly meshed, networked Wi-Fi with some smart advantages. The new Magic 2 WiFi 6 next supports the following mesh functions for seamless Wi-Fi:

  • Airtime Fairness manages the Wi-Fi network automatically by providing more connection time to fast Wi-Fi clients than older Wi-Fi standards do – that improves the Wi-Fi performance of the entire wireless network.
  • Access Point Steering enables a low-interruption connection with multiple Wi-Fi access points. The benefit of this becomes apparent when the user is moving around the home with a smartphone, tablet or laptop. In a fully automatic process, the mesh network ensures that each client is connected to the strongest hotspot at all times.
  • Band Steering efficiently and automatically steers client devices to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency band without user intervention. This provides connections with the most suitable Wi-Fi band at all times, ensuring a stable connection.
  • Beam Forming enables a particularly exact control of the client devices to establish an improved connection between the access point and, for example, a tablet.
  • Client Steering gives Wi-Fi roaming an added boost by letting compatible client devices decide autonomously which access point enables the fastest connection.
  • Config Sync enables Wi-Fi configuration data to synchronise to all devolo Magic Wi-Fi access points. Furthermore, it allows access data to be copied from the router so that only one Wi-Fi name and one Wi-Fi password has to be stored for all client devices.
  • Bi-directional Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) takes advantage of the multi-antenna technology of the transmitter and receiver units by sending and receiving multiple simultaneous data streams to and from various clients. This becomes a decisive advantage for households in which several real-time Internet services are frequently run at the same time.
  • OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access): OFDMA is the most significant feature of Wi-Fi 6 and a transmission method which is complementary to MU-MIMO. The modulation technology uses available frequencies more efficiently than older Wi-Fi generations. The wireless channels are divided into smaller frequency bands so that more applications or clients can communicate on one channel simultaneously, leading to the faster transmission of small data packets.


Strong connection: Powerline and Wi-Fi 6

The big advantage of devolo's solution compared to other Wi-Fi 6 products is that the adapters are interconnected by Powerline technology. The adapters communicate over the electrical wiring. This allows clients to connect wirelessly at their location of use, but the underlying home network benefits from the cable connection. This makes the combination of Powerline and Wi-Fi 6 the ideal choice, especially when you need to bridge multiple storeys or large distances. Ceilings, walls and even water lines slow down pure Wi-Fi solutions a lot.


Simple installation

The initial installation of a Magic network is done in no time: After the first adapter is plugged in, all other Magic adapters plugged in within the following two minutes will connect to each other automatically – without the push of a single button. Then simply connect an adapter to the router using an Ethernet cable and devolo Magic is ready to go!


If needed, the convenient devolo Home Network app can guide you through the process with an easy-to-follow installation wizard. From the computer in the study to the smart TV in the living room, the Internet signal now reaches all devices. You can choose whether a device is supplied by the adapter from one of its two Gigabit ports or through strong mesh Wi-Fi.


Prices and availability

devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 next is available now in various packages. The individual adapters for retrofitting an existing Magic Powerline network cost GBP 179.99. For larger living spaces, we recommend the Multiroom Kit, which comes with three adapters at a price of GBP 409.99. For first-time users we recommend the Starter Kit with two adapters for GBP 239.99.
