Pioneering devolo product connects USB printers and USB hard drives over the mains supply
Aachen, Germany-based powerline specialist devolo introduces the dLAN® 200 AV USB extender, a world first for home networks via the powerline. The new adapter enables USB printers and USB hard drives to be connected to all computers in the household. This adds a network function to conventional USB devices, allowing them to be used by more than one person at a time without being connected locally. This also makes it possible to position devices flexibly throughout the home. Like all devolo products, installing the devolo dLAN® 200 AV USB extender is as easy as child‘s play, and once connected, the devices are ready to use immediately.
devolo presents the dLAN® 200 AV USB extender, the ideal solution for households with multiple computers that want to share access to USB printers and USB hard drives. The powerline specialist thus underscores its position as innovator in the powerline market and expands its product portfolio with a proprietary development based on customers‘ desire to share devices and files in the home network.
The dLAN® 200 AV USB extender makes every power outlet a USB port, which means that all USB devices in the house finally have their own place. USB printers and hard drives are connected directly to the dLAN® 200 AV USB extender and enable direct access for all users in the network. The powerline serves as an extra-long USB cable up to 300 meters in length—any conventional printer can be placed where you need it, not where the USB cable ends. It also provides greater flexibility and convenience for USB hard drives: simply connect the device to the dLAN® 200 AV USB extender, and all users in the network can access the data. Important documents, music, photos and videos can be retrieved anywhere in the home — even backing up all the computers in the house is as easy as child‘s play! As is typical of devolo products, the adapter is installed in no time and the dLAN® 200 AV USB extender can be integrated easily into an existing dLAN® 200 AV home network. The emphasis is also on safety for the USB connection in the dLAN®: at the touch of a button, the signals are encrypted to ensure a secure connection. The familiar devolo dLAN® Cockpit software for PC and Mac makes it easy and convenient to configure the adapter in the dLAN® AV home network.
"As the powerline specialist, we are always seeking to add innovative solutions to our product line and design powerline solutions that provide valuable benefits for everyday network use," says Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG. "The dLAN® 200 AV USB extender makes conventional USB printers and USB hard drives network-compatible and enables flexible positioning of these devices throughout the home." The dLAN® 200 AV USB extender is available in stores now in a standalone version for 99.90 and as a starter kit that also includes a dLAN® 200 AV mini for 129.90 euro. Both come with the devolo 3-year warranty.
