devolo becomes member of FTTH Council Europe

devolo AG intensifies its commitment to the fiber market: devolo Operator Solutions has recently become a new member of the Fibre To The Home (FFTH) Council Europe. The organisation supports the rapid installation of fibre-based access networks in order to enable consumers and businesses to benefit from powerful high-speed connectivity. FTTH Council Europe brings together companies with exceptionally innovative product portfolios and leading market solutions. Academic institutions are also included in the work of FTTH Council Europe. Currently the Brussels based organisation has 150 members.

Speed up FTTH roll-out

The FTTH Council Europe was founded in 2004 by the five companies Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Corning, Emtelle and OFS. Since the beginning, it has been the organization’s goal to speed up the spread of fiber technology internationally for the benefit of consumers, businesses - and society as a whole: In its work, the organization emphasizes that high-speed networks stand for more than fast connections, due to laying the foundation for new services such as in the area of eHealth, Smart Cities and Smart Home.

devolo Operator Solutions at the FTTH Conference

The most important meeting place for the industry is the annual FTTH Conference, the world’s largest FTTH event. Organized by FTTH Council Europe, the fair, which also includes a conference and workshop program, takes place from February 14 to 16, 2017 in Marseille. The organizers expect around 3,000 participants from over 90 countries. devolo Operator Solutions will be among the 120 exhibitors and can be found at stand S4 at Palais des Evènements.

Fiber products for self-installation

At the FTTH Conference, the Aachen based network specialist will present its new fiber products, which stand out by the modular concept of the OS Fiber Point: Fiber Termination Unit and Optical Network Termination are separated. Depending on the type of network, the OS Fiber Point is implemented as Point-to-Point- or GPON variant (Gigabit Passive Optical Network). The additional OS Fiber Router provides four Gigabit Ethernet ports and high-end WiFi with 2,4 and 5 GHz. The components can easily be assembled by the customer. This accelerates the roll-out of FTTH - a perfect match to the goals of the FTTH Council Europe.
