devolo at European Utility Week 2013: First G3-PLC modem in DINRail format for efficient access communication
Enabling reliable, efficient communication in a smart grid—this is the slogan devolo is using to present the first G3-PLC modem in DINRail format at European Utility Week 2013. This modem is providing the means of implementing the stable, secure and cost-effective exchange of data between measuring points in the smart home and nodes on the smart grid. The development of the product has been accompanied by a comprehensive field test, which effectively demonstrated the performance of the PLC technology in a frequency band up to 500 kHz.
devolo at European Utility Week 2013 in co-operation with the G3-PLC Alliance
Powerline specialist devolo is presenting its innovative communication solution for the access area at European Utility Week 2013 in co-operation with the G3-PLC Alliance. The RAI trade fair grounds in Amsterdam will become the centre of communication in the smart grid and smart home on October 15 to 17, 2013.
First G3-PLC modem in DINRail format for PLC-Access
The focus of the trade fair presentation is the first G3-PLC modem in DINRail format. DINRail compatibility allows this modem to be integrated directly into switch boxes. This provides an ideal way of meeting the requirement for communication in the access area while enabling cost-efficient installation in the smart home. The prototype being presented at European Utility Week is the technological equivalent to the G3-PLC modem tested as part of an extensive field test. The product is slated to be available for sale in 2014.
devolo 500 kHz-PLC-Access tested under real-world conditions: G3-PLC field test completed successfully
Development of the G3-PLC modem was accompanied by a comprehensive field test of Powerline communication in the access area. The field test examined the performance of the PLC technology and the adherence to EMC provisions within a typical cluster segment in the real world—with impressive results. devolo‘s Powerline technology in the frequency band from 150 to 500 kHz forms the ideal communication infrastructure for all real-time applications in a smart grid with full support for Internet Protocol (IP). At the same time, it also offers sufficient capacity for the applications of the future.Unlike the Cenelec A band (9 - 95 kHz), G3-PLC technology in the 150 - 500 kHz frequency band offers significantly higher data rates with the same power supply network coverage. It has been standardized by the G3-PLC Alliance and accepted as the ITU standard. The devolo solution for the smart energy network is ready for the market. You can find more information on the successful field test at the G3 Alliance stand and at www.dLANsolutions.de.
