Oktober 2008 – devolo AG, the Aachen-based inhouse powerline specialist, is presenting a WLAN capable powerline adapter with integrated 4-port switch, which can transmit data both via the household electrical wiring using HomePlug technology and via the wireless WLAN network—the dLAN 200 AV Wireless G. This multifunctional network device is a classic all-in-one solution that combines dLAN, WLAN and a 4-port switch in one device. The application area of the new dLAN 200 AV Wireless G includes, for example, single-family homes or apartments where a fast network is to be installed while benefiting from the advantages of both dLAN and WLAN technologies. The dLAN 200 AV Wireless G is now available for 149.90 euro and the dLAN 200 AV Wireless G Starter Kit together with a dLAN 200 AVeasy for 199.90 euro. Every electrical socket turns into a WLAN access point The new dLAN 200 AV Wireless G enables users to take full advantage of their fast DSL connection and get the Internet into every room of the house, either over the electrical wiring or via WLAN. Rooms that have been out of reach for wireless networks thus far can now be integrated into a WLAN network quickly and easily. Data is transmitted securely between floors or rooms over the electrical wiring. The user then decides whether he/she wants to connect the computer or laptop in a room to the network wirelessly or by using a cable. Thus, every electrical outlet in the building becomes a potential WLAN access point and, of course, also a network connection. The dLAN 200 AV Wireless G with fast HomePlug AV standard is optimally equipped even for demanding broadband applications such as IPTV or video on demand. Additional computers, multimedia devices or network-compatible hard drives can be connected directly via LAN cable to the home network via the integrated 4-port switch. Secure web surfing throughout the house The dLAN 200 AV Wireless G provides a multitude of networking options and is compatible with devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy adapters. The dLAN 200 AV Wireless G transmits data at a transfer rate of up to 200 Mbps over the electrical wiring and up to 54 Mbps via WLAN. Automatic bandwidth management (Quality of Service, WMM 802.11e) ensures interference-free transmission of videos, VoIP and music for data transmission via various media, such as the electrical wiring, WLAN and Ethernet. dLAN encryption is activated without software at the touch of a button on the adapter (128-bit AES encryption). WPA, WPA2 and WEP encryption mechanisms are used for Wireless LAN. The WLAN channel selection is dynamic and depends on the respective WLAN environment. If necessary, WLAN can also be switched off via a switch on the rear side of the device. The dLAN 200 AV Wireless G is now available for 159.90 euro.
