devolo combines PCs to entertainment systems – the new dLAN Audio extender distributes music throughout the entire houseWith the dLAN Audio extender, one can connect a PC to an entertainment system or active speakers within a house simply and quickly via the existing home's mains wiring installationAachen, Germany, 30 October, 2007. The Aachen-based network specialist, devolo AG, a pioneer in HomePlug technology and the market leader in Europe, has added a new entertainment product to its dLAN series of products. With the dLAN Audio extender, one can connect a PC to an entertainment system or active speakers within a house simply and quickly via the existing home's mains wiring installation. With this plug & play audio networking system, there is no need to install additional cables. As such, MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC files can be played through the entertainment system or external speakers in any room, in CD quality and in stereo. Music everywhere – the home audio network Until now, listening to music throughout an entire home required the tedious installation of cables – often between more than one floor. The new dLAN Audio extender eliminates these requirements, because this new entertainment solution by devolo uses any home's existing electrical wiring to distribute music. As such, it is now possible to play all of the MP3 songs stored on a PC drive in every room of a flat. To achieve this, the PC simply has to be connected via a LAN cable to a conventional dLAN adapter, which is then plugged into the nearest mains outlet. The music can be played in another room either through an entertainment system or on active speakers. This is accomplished in the room where you want to play the music by connecting a dLAN Audio extender to an entertainment system using a cinch cable, or to active speakers using a miniplug cable, and then plugging the extender into a mains outlet. For a simple audio network, one needs no more than a dLAN Audio extender Starter Kit to make the connection. dLAN technology – convenient and easy The new dLAN Audio extender by devolo extends the application range of a dLAN network by adding audio components. Audio lovers can now enjoy audio books in the bath, children's audio games in the children's room and music in the bedroom – no room has to be left in silence. The private audio archives can be listened to using the dLAN Audio extender anywhere where there are speakers. And that goes for MP3 songs as well as WMA, WAV and AAC files. This makes it both easy and most convenient to distribute all audio files, that are stored on the home computer, throughout the entire home. The plug & play installation of the new dLAN Audio extender is accomplished quickly: Simply plug the adapter into the mains outlet, insert the CD, and you're done in no time. Subsequently, your home wiring then serves as speaker cables. Heiko Harbers, President and CEO of devolo AG: "Not only do our products resolve the problem of home audio networking, they are also very easy to install." Available immediately The dLAN Audio extender Starter Kit is now available for 149.90 Euro and the dLAN Audio extender is available for 99.90 Euro.
