devolo HomePlug AV devices now TR 069 compatible

TR 069 is a technical standard which allows remote configuration and diagnosis of all devices in a network

Aachen, June 27, 2007. devolo AG, the networking specialist based in Aachen, Germany, announces a further technical innovation: All devolo HomePlug AV products are now TR-069 compatible. This abbreviation is the name of a technical specification as defined by the international DSL Forum: This states that with immediate effect HomePlug AV is the selected in-house powerline technology to be supported by DSL modems and routers which carry DSL Forum approval. The DSL Forum is a worldwide consortium of companies which establishes standards for the entire DSL market.

This decision by the DSL Forum is yet another milestone in the company history of devolo marking the establishment of in-house powerline networks as a standard. Following this decision, competing technology standards in the powerline market now face an even stronger headwind. As the market leader in in-house powerline, devolo sees this decision as an affirmation of its product policy. Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG: "We expected the DSL Forum to reach this decision." TR-069 is a technical standard which allows remote configuration and diagnosis of all devices in a network. Thus TR-069 is of special relevance to large-scale network operators such as telcos and ISPs. Heiko Harbers continues: "For this reason, our current HomePlug AV firmware already supports the TR-069 commands as specified by the DSL Forum. This makes all devolo HomePlug AV devices compatible with TR-069."
